Shopify store setup with every account in your name

Setup is the work between an empty Shopify account and a store ready for its first order. It settles who holds the logins, how the catalog is organized before products go in, and whether search engines can read the store on opening day. When we do it, you own the store, the theme, the content, and every account.

The jobs between an empty account and a first order

A new Shopify account opens to a blank admin, a stock theme, and a password page. Getting from there to a store a stranger can find, trust, and buy from is a string of decisions, and many of them are awkward to reverse once products and customers are in the system.

Setup is one part of our Shopify web design and development work, and it covers:

Setup is for a store that does not sell yet. If yours already takes orders and the trouble is how it looks or works, that is a Shopify store redesign, a different job with different risks.

The ownership handoff, with every login opened in your name

A store owner can lose control of a store without anyone doing anything dishonest. When a developer or agency opens the Shopify account with their own email, buys the domain through their own registrar, and connects analytics to their own Google account, everything works until the relationship ends. Then the store login, the domain renewal, and the sales history all sit behind credentials the owner never had.

Our policy is the published one: the site, the design, the content, the product data, the payment account, the analytics, the domain, all of it is in your name. In a Shopify setup, that works out like this:

So the handoff at the end of setup is short. There is nothing to transfer, because nothing was ever in our name. You get a written list of what was configured and where each setting lives.

Catalog structure, drawn up before the first product is imported

Shopify gives every product a handful of fields that organize a catalog: a product type, a vendor, tags, options and variants, and a product category. Collections, the groupings shoppers browse, can be filled by hand or by rules that read those fields. The fields are loose enough to organize a catalog several ways, which is why the choice belongs before the import, not after it.

What you receive is a catalog map: the collection list, the rule behind each automated collection, the tag vocabulary, and the custom field definitions. You approve it before a product goes in, and it stays the reference for whoever adds products after launch.

Opening on an empty catalog fed by a point-of-sale system

Some stores never have a product typed into Shopify at all. The inventory lives in the point-of-sale system at the counter, and products publish to the online store from there. That changes setup in ways a store stocked by hand never runs into.

That inbound feed is a different thing from an outbound product feed, and the two are set up separately.

We have built for this case before. One store is a boutique whose inventory publishes automatically from its point-of-sale system; its theme was built from scratch with 36 custom sections to read that feed as-is, and it was designed to launch on an empty catalog.

The point-of-sale system itself, and the products, prices, and photos that flow through it, stay yours. Setup makes the store read them correctly; it does not manage them.

Search groundwork that has to be in place on opening day

A well-built store can still be invisible for its first stretch online because of settings nobody checked at launch. The groundwork is a short list, and each item is easier to get right before the store is public.

That is the floor, not a search program. How collections and product pages earn search traffic once the store is live is the work of Shopify SEO, which picks up where setup stops, and being cited in AI answers falls under AI search optimization.

What you supply, and the decisions that stay yours

You supply the products, prices, and photos, however they reach the store; your logo and brand colors; your business and bank details, entered by you; access to your domain, or the go-ahead to register one in your name; and answers on shipping, returns, and where you sell.

The decisions that stay yours:

How a setup engagement is quoted and run

There is no setup package with a list price. A small catalog entered by hand and a catalog published from a point-of-sale system are different amounts of work, so setup is scoped per store, quoted after the free consult. What a Shopify website costs lays out the pieces of the total.

The terms are plain: month to month, no long contracts, the owner on every call.

Start with a free 30-minute consult with the owner to walk through your catalog, your point-of-sale setup if you have one, and who holds which accounts today. Or ask for a free homepage mockup if seeing the front of the store first would help you decide.

Common questions

Can I open the Shopify account myself before hiring anyone?

Yes, and it is the cleanest way to start. Open the account with your own email, choose a plan when you are ready, and grant us access from the admin. The store is in your name from the first minute, nothing ever needs transferring, and you can remove our access on any day.

What happens to the store if we stop working with you?

Nothing moves, because nothing was in our name. The store, the theme, the content, and every account were yours from the first login. You remove our access from the store admin and your Google account, and the store keeps running as it was. Month to month terms make ending the work simple.

Can a store go live before any products are loaded?

Yes, when the catalog arrives from a point-of-sale system instead of being entered by hand. The theme and settings are prepared so every page looks finished with no products in it, including collection pages, search, navigation, and the homepage. Checkout is tested first, and products appear as the system publishes them.

Is store setup sold as a fixed package?

No. Setup is scoped per store, quoted after the free consult. Its size depends mostly on how much of the catalog arrives by hand and how much publishes from a point-of-sale system. Shopify's plan and any app subscriptions are separate and billed to you directly. The quote covers the setup work itself, and you see it before anything starts.

Does setup include a custom-coded theme?

Not by default. Setup configures a theme around your catalog: colors, navigation, collection and product layouts, and a place for your custom fields. A theme designed and coded from scratch is custom theme development, a separate engagement for when the catalog, a point-of-sale feed, or the brand needs more than configuration gives.

We already sell on Shopify. Is setup the right service?

Usually not. Setup is for a store that is not selling yet. If your store already takes orders and its look or layout is the problem, that is a store redesign. If it works but is hard to find in search, that is Shopify SEO. If you are not sure which applies, a free 30-minute consult with the owner sorts it out.
