Google Business Profile description writer.

Tell us about your business and AI drafts a 750-character description that follows Google’s rules. A built-in pass/fail checklist then proves it will actually publish, no URLs, no phone numbers, no sales talk.

Free, no signup. Checked live against Google’s 750-character limit and content policy.

Writing your description…

The first 250 characters (to the marker) are what most people see before tapping "more." Lead with what you do and where.

Write a description Google will actually publish

Your Google Business Profile description is one of the few places you control the words customers read before they choose you. Google enforces real rules on it, and a draft that breaks them either gets rejected or quietly stripped. This tool drafts a clean, honest description and then runs a deterministic checklist on it so you can publish with confidence.

What Google allows (and doesn’t)

Google gives you up to 750 characters of plain, factual prose about your business. What it does not allow: URLs or web addresses, phone numbers, promotional or sales language, special offers and discounts, prices, and misleading or low-quality content. ALL-CAPS shouting and gimmicky formatting can also get a description rejected. The checklist on this page tests every one of those rules against your exact text and shows a clear pass or fail for each.

How the checker works

The validator runs entirely in your browser. Paste any draft, or generate one with the writer, and it counts characters live, scans for links and phone numbers, flags clear promotional triggers like sale, discount, and call now, and detects ALL-CAPS shouting. It separates hard violations Google rejects (in red) from softer cautions like the word offer or save that can appear in honest prose (in amber), so it never blocks you over normal wording. Because the rules are deterministic, the same text always gets the same result. Fix the red items, watch them flip to a green check, and you have a description that will publish on the first try.

Free, and built to publish

SEMrush offers a free description generator, but it email-gates the result and does not enforce Google’s actual limits. Ours is free with no signup, and it goes further: it holds you to the real 750-character cap and Google’s content policy with a pass/fail checklist, so the text you copy is text that actually goes live.

Pro tips

  • Lead with what you do and where you serve in the first sentence, the opening lines are the most visible.
  • Name your core services and your service area in plain language.
  • Keep it honest, do not claim awards, years in business, or certifications you cannot back up.
  • Leave links and your phone number out of the description, they belong in the dedicated profile fields.
  • Refresh the description when your services or service area change.

Frequently asked questions

How long can a Google Business Profile description be?
Google allows up to 750 characters in the business description. The first 250 or so are the most visible, so lead with what you do and where you serve. This tool counts characters live and flags anything over the 750 limit.
What is not allowed in a Google business description?
Google prohibits URLs, phone numbers, promotional or sales language, special offers, and misleading content. ALL-CAPS shouting and gimmicky formatting can also get a description rejected. Keep it to plain, factual prose about the business.
Why does my Google description keep getting rejected?
The most common reasons are a link or phone number in the text, promotional phrases like sale or discount or call now, or text over 750 characters. The checklist on this page tests for each of those so you can fix them before you submit.
Does the business description help my local ranking?
The description is not a strong direct ranking factor, but an accurate, complete profile helps Google understand your business and helps customers choose you. A clear description that names your services and area supports relevance and conversion.
Do I need an API key or signup to use this?
No signup is required. The policy checklist runs entirely in your browser on any text you paste or generate. The AI writer needs our key to be configured. If it is not, you can still paste your own draft and the checklist validates it.
