AI search for senior care providers, written to be named

The person choosing a community or an agency is almost never the person who will live in it. It is usually an adult daughter, often out of state, often working against a hospital discharge date, and a growing share of those families now describe the whole situation to ChatGPT or read the AI answer sitting above the results. What comes back does not always name anybody in your county.

Why senior care providers go missing from AI answers

Ask ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity where to move a parent with early dementia in your city. Sometimes the answer explains what memory care is and names nobody. Sometimes it names two or three providers. Very often it hands over a national referral marketplace. There is no page of links underneath to rescue you, so a provider left out of that paragraph is off the family's list.

What we actually do about it

None of this is a trick played on a model. It is closer to recordkeeping: put the true things where they can be read, and say them the same way everywhere. The general method sits on the AI search optimization hub.

What this looks like for a senior care provider

Families do not ask these tools for a name first. They describe a situation. Mom fell again and the hospital says she cannot go home alone. My mother has started leaving the stove on. The reply works through the decision and names providers second, if at all. The opening for you is the vocabulary gap: families arrive using the wrong words and know it, saying nursing home when they mean assisted living, home health when they mean help with showers and meals. Explaining the difference in plain English, including which one you are and which one you are not, is the most reliably quoted thing a senior care provider can publish, and it overlaps almost entirely with SEO for senior care providers.

Money is where most providers go quiet. Publish nothing and the answer gets built from national cost surveys and marketplace ranges, so a family arrives holding a number you did not set. You do not have to post a rate card. The structure is usually enough: base rent plus a care level, or an hourly rate with a shift minimum. Which payment sources you take is a checkable fact, and what Medicare does and does not cover for a long stay is a common misunderstanding.

You are also writing for referral sources, the discharge planners and case managers, and home care agencies for caregiver recruiting on top of that. A site half given over to job applications reads to a machine like a staffing company.

Reviews behave differently here too. Volume is low, the range is extreme, and you cannot reply the way a restaurant can, since confirming that somebody was a resident is itself a disclosure. Replies that never discuss an individual are what reputation management means here, and they get summarized along with everything else.

Timing follows a calendar you know: families visit at the holidays, see the decline in person, and the questions cluster in the weeks after, so the pages want to be standing before that wave. Through all of it, nothing we write promises a care outcome, a safety result, an occupancy number, or a wait time. Licensure, staffing, and accreditation go in as your administrator confirms them, and age restricted housing pages are written with fair housing rules in mind.

What this cannot tell you, and what we will not claim

Traditional search gives you a position you can look up. This does not. The same question, asked by two families on two days, can name different providers, so we do not pretend to have a rank tracker. We keep a fixed set of the questions families in your market ask, run them the same way each month, and record what came back. That is sampling, not measurement.

Attribution is thin too. A daughter who reads an answer naming you usually searches your name next, or simply calls, so the visit lands as branded or direct rather than as a referral. Asking on the tour how they heard about you beats any dashboard, and where that call goes is a separate job under lead generation.

Be careful with anyone selling certainty. Google now sells ads in and around its AI answers, and the assistants are moving the same way, so paid placement is already part of that screen. What no budget buys is the organic part: money does not decide which providers the answer itself names. That is close to the opposite of Google Ads, where spend buys visibility the same day.

Order matters as well. If the site cannot be crawled or edited, buying this first is out of sequence, and we would rather say so than take the money. A rebuild comes first, under websites for senior care providers, and the map pack is its own job under local SEO for senior care providers.

What makes Kelly WM different

A fair amount of what gets sold as AI search work is last year's audit with a new cover page and a bigger number at the bottom. Nobody outside those companies knows how the systems pick their sources.

What it costs

For most providers this rides along with ongoing search work rather than arriving as its own line item, because the foundations are shared. Ongoing SEO or local SEO runs $1,500 to $3,500 a month for most businesses, and $3,500 to $7,500 a month in competitive metros or for groups running several buildings or territories.

If the site itself is the obstacle, a custom coded build runs $3,500 to $12,000 or more, one time. If a tool makes sense on top of the content, calculators start at $600, most workhorse tools run $1,500 to $4,000, and Tool Care is $75 a month per tool and optional. Those live under custom tools.

Everything is month to month, and you keep the site, the content, and every account. For what moves those numbers, see how much SEO costs and how long SEO takes, or run the free what should you pay tool. A real number comes after the free consult, once we have seen the site.

Common questions

Can you guarantee ChatGPT or an AI Overview will recommend us?

No, and be careful with anyone who says otherwise. Nobody outside those companies controls what a model says, and the systems change their sources without notice. What we control is whether your true facts are published, structured, and readable by a machine, and whether you can see what the tools say before the work and after.

How is this different from the SEO we already pay for?

It overlaps far more than it differs. Accurate facts, clean structure, and pages that answer real family questions help a ranking and an answer engine alike. The separate pieces are narrow: schema, crawl access for AI bots, and answers written to be lifted whole. For most providers that belongs inside ongoing search work.

The answers keep naming the referral marketplaces instead of us. Can that change?

Sometimes, and slowly. Those are referral businesses, generally paid by the providers they place people with, and they earn the spot by publishing the same structured fields for thousands of communities. You will not out publish them at scale. You can be the better source about your own building and county.

An AI tool has our care levels or our rate wrong. Can that be fixed?

Usually, and the fix is rarely a complaint form. These tools repeat what they read, so the work is correcting the sources: the marketplace profile with the old price range, the listing showing a service you dropped, the stale page on your own site. Then we recheck over the following weeks.

Do we have to publish our rates for this to work?

No, and plenty of providers choose not to. But saying nothing about money means the answer gets built from national cost surveys and marketplace ranges, so families arrive holding a number you did not set. Explaining the structure is usually enough, along with the payment sources you accept.

Does HIPAA affect any of this?

It shapes how we build and write, and it does not stop the work. These pages state facts about your organization, not about people. Forms and review responses are built with HIPAA in mind: no health detail you do not need, and no public reply confirming somebody was in your care.
