The reason to replatform is usually that the old system has stopped fitting how the business sells: the checkout, the day-to-day admin, the tools the store depends on, or the way the catalog is organized now works against the store instead of for it. The risk that is easiest to underestimate is search. A store that has been online for a while has earned visibility tied to the web addresses it has now, and a platform move puts all of that in play at once.
