The short answer: Ongoing SEO or Local SEO runs $1,500 to $3,500 a month for most businesses, and $3,500 to $7,500 a month in competitive metros or across multiple locations. Water damage restoration is an expensive category to compete in, because you are bidding against national franchises, lead marketplaces, and contractors who added mitigation as a second line, so a large metro or more than one territory usually means the higher range. What moves you inside a range is how many causes of loss you have written about, how many counties you cover, and what shape your site, profile, and reviews are in. Everything is month to month, and you own the site, the content, and the accounts.
Nobody can quote this trade honestly without seeing your market and the site you already have. Four things move the number most.
Why this work is priced monthly, and how to read a quote against that, is in the SEO cost guide. The rest of this page is what those drivers cost a restoration company.
Ongoing SEO or Local SEO runs $1,500 to $3,500 a month for most businesses. Competitive metros and multi-location companies run $3,500 to $7,500 a month. Those are the figures we publish and the figures we charge, billed month to month, no long term contract.
The first range covers one company in one metro: cause of loss pages written one at a time for supply lines, water heaters, appliance overflows, sewage backups, and storm intrusion; process pages on what actually happens, from the first visit to the drying equipment sitting in the house for days; an insurance page written carefully; service area pages that say something true about each town; local schema, profile management, and a review routine your crew lead runs at the last visit. Call tracking comes with it, because a trade this dependent on the phone should not be guessing where calls came from, and we run first party lead dashboards on more than 20 of the sites we manage.
The second range is that work scaled to the footprint: a page set and a profile per territory, more published every month because the competition is publishing too, credentials written per state, and a separate track for the property managers and plumbers who hand work off.
Two things sit outside that fee. Ad budget goes straight to Google and management is quoted on its own: the industry bills a flat monthly fee or a percentage of spend, and we quote flat after a free consult, on the Google Ads page. Anything custom built is its own line, here usually an after hours intake that takes an address and photos. Calculators start at $600, most workhorse tools run $1,500 to $4,000 one time, and Tool Care is $75 a month per tool.
Being named in AI answers is part of the same monthly work, not another invoice. Google now sells ads in and around those answers, so there is real paid placement on those screens. What no budget decides is which companies the organic answer itself names. That gets assembled from what you publish: whether you run around the clock, which counties you reach, whether you take a category 3 loss or hand it off.
Two companies the same size can land on different numbers. The honest version of why.
It costs more when:
It costs less when:
One budgeting instinct worth naming: pausing the plan while you are slammed and restarting when the phone slows. Everything is month to month, so you can. It usually costs more than it saves, because pages have to be published and found before the week you need them. That is what how long SEO takes is really about.
Do your own math before you compare quotes. Take your average mitigation ticket, plus the rebuild that follows if you do that work, and figure out how many extra jobs a month cover a plan in the middle of the first range. A company that dries and reconstructs needs very few. A company living on small dry outs needs a lot more, and the honest answer there may be that the map listing, a review routine, and a few cause pages come first. We will say so on the call. The counterweight is capacity: crews, air movers, and dehumidifiers, and leads past that ceiling buy missed calls and reviews you cannot take back.
Two things you can do today without talking to anyone:
What this work includes for your trade is on the water damage restoration marketing page. We are Orlando based and have worked with local service businesses nationwide since 2008. That work is real and nothing here replaces it. Two things are still worth knowing. Program and referral flow is a channel somebody else controls: vendor lists get rewritten, territories get reassigned, and one retirement can end a relationship that took years to build. And the homeowner your plumber sends still looks you up before the truck arrives, so what they find decides whether the referral turns into a signed authorization. Companies with steady program flow often start in the lower half of the $1,500 to $3,500 range, aimed at the map listing, the review routine, and a first set of cause pages.
They do different jobs, and plenty of restoration companies run both. Ads can put you on the screen the day you turn them on, which matters when the search happens at three in the morning and the decision takes four minutes. They also stop the day you stop paying, and clicks are expensive in this trade because everyone bidding is chasing the same emergency. The profile, the reviews, and the pages are the part you keep. We publish no management fee: the industry bills either a flat monthly fee or a percentage of spend, we quote flat after a free consult, and the ad budget goes straight to Google either way.
It is different math rather than cheaper math. A purchased lead is often sold to more than one company, so you are quoting against whoever else bought it, and the price does not fall because you have been buying for three years. Pages, a profile, and reviews are yours, they keep working between events, and the cost per call only moves in your favor if the work keeps running. The catch is timing: buying leads produces a call this afternoon and this does not. Most companies that step away from lead vendors do it slowly, keeping the purchases going while the owned channel gets built.
