How much does SEO cost for a moving company?

The short answer: For most moving companies, ongoing SEO runs $1,500 to $3,500 a month. Movers working a large metro, running more than one branch, or selling long distance alongside local work usually land at $3,500 to $7,500, because lead brokers already spend at the top of those results and there are more pages to build and keep current. What moves you between the ranges is how many towns and lanes you cover, whether you sell commercial work, and how much of your trust content, profile, and reviews still has to be built. It is month to month, with no long-term contract.

What drives the number for a moving company

The fee tracks how much work your situation takes. Five things move that most for a mover.

What each range buys a moving company

Ongoing SEO for most moving companies runs $1,500 to $3,500 a month. Movers in competitive metros, or running more than one branch, run $3,500 to $7,500 a month. Those are the figures we publish and the ones we charge. Why the work is priced monthly, and how to read a quote you are holding, is covered in the SEO cost guide.

In the first range, a single branch in one metro: a page for each town the trucks serve and each move type you perform, the trust content written once and kept current, local schema so the map listing and the site agree, Google Business Profile management with photographs of your own crews and lettering, a review request built into the close of every job, and a content cadence written in the trough for the season that pays. Reporting counts calls and form fills, not ranking screenshots. We run first-party lead dashboards on more than 20 of the sites we manage, so you can see which page produced the lead yourself.

The second range is the same work at scale: lane pages for the long distance side, another branch with its own profile, reviews, and city pages, and a commercial track alongside the residential one.

Plenty of movers belong in the lower half of the first range and should not be talked out of it. Below both ranges is usually a lead package or a directory bundle with pages thrown in, cheap because the same city page went to hundreds of companies, comma for comma. Duplicate copy is hard to rank and harder still to get named by an AI assistant.

When it costs more, and when it costs less

The honest version of why companies land outside the middle:

Two costs sit outside the monthly number. Google Ads is billed separately: agencies typically charge a flat management fee or a percentage of ad spend, and we quote flat after a free consult rather than a cut of your budget. And AI answers now shape the shortlist before anyone picks up a phone. Google sells ads in and around those answers, so that space is not free of paid placement, but no budget decides which companies the organic answer itself names.

How to get a real number for your company

Before comparing quotes, take the average invoice on the moves you want more of, not the average of everything you booked, and work out how many cover a plan in the middle of the first range. A full pack or one commercial account is worth several apartment jobs.

Then two counterweights specific to this trade. Capacity: trucks and crews cap you in July, and leads you cannot service in peak turn into late arrivals and reviews you cannot take back, so the honest target is usually the trough. Cash flow: revenue is seasonal and a retainer is not, so budget the fee out of the busy months. The site somebody finds in June is the one that got worked on in January.

Related questions

Is SEO cheaper than buying leads from a moving lead broker?

It is different, not automatically cheaper. Broker leads are billed per lead and the same customer is often sold to several movers at once, so you pay again every time and compete on price before you have said a word. SEO is a monthly fee of $1,500 to $3,500 for most movers, it takes months rather than days, and the pages, profile, and reviews stay yours.

Should we keep paying through the slow season?

The slow months are when most of the work happens, because the pages somebody finds in June get written in January. Everything is month to month with no long-term contract, so if cash is tight, a smaller plan you can hold all year beats a big one in season and nothing from October on. Off season is also when to build pages for the people who move in the trough: flexible dates, storage in and out, estate clear outs.

We run as an agent for a van line. Does that change the price?

Check what the van line program already covers before adding anything, so you are not paying twice for the same pages, and check what your agreement lets you publish. What usually goes uncovered is the part that is yours: your branch, your crews, your local moves, your storage, the towns you serve. That work is priced like anyone else's, $1,500 to $3,500 a month for a single branch in an ordinary market.
