There is no single best SEO company in St. Petersburg, so this page does something more useful: it names real agencies working in the market and gives you the criteria to judge them. We wrote it, we are on the list, and we say so up front. The order is alphabetical, not a ranking.
Book a free consultation →The disclosure first. Kelly Webmasters and Marketers wrote this page. We are an SEO and web design company, we appear on the list below, and that makes us an interested party. Hold us to the same checklist we hand you.
The method, in full: we searched for SEO and digital marketing companies operating in St. Petersburg, confirmed each one has a working website live today, and kept only firms with a real St. Petersburg or St. Pete Beach location rather than a city landing page run by an out-of-state firm. Anything we could not verify was left off, so this is not a census.
We did not rank anybody. No scores, no stars, no review counts. We have never seen these companies' clients, contracts, or results, so a ranking would mean inventing one. Nobody paid to appear, and nobody could have. The rest of this page is the part that actually helps: how to judge any of them, us included.
St. Petersburg is not one market, which is why best is the wrong question. The city runs from the downtown waterfront and Beach Drive through the Grand Central and Warehouse Arts districts out to the beaches, and a law firm competing across Pinellas County has almost nothing in common, search wise, with a pool service chasing three zip codes.
The metro adds a wrinkle. St. Petersburg sits inside Tampa Bay, so your real competitors are often in Tampa, Clearwater, Largo, or Pinellas Park, bidding on the same searches. An agency that thinks in one city name will misjudge half the field.
Geography, stated honestly. We are an Orlando company and work with St. Petersburg businesses remotely, the same way we serve clients in forty-plus states. We have no St. Petersburg office, no St. Petersburg staff, and no local results to wave at you. If sitting across a table matters, several companies below can do that and we cannot. Our St. Petersburg SEO page covers how we work the market.
Nine companies, alphabetical. The order carries no meaning: the first name is not better than the last. Each entry is the company name and the focus that company describes.
A branding shop, a web development firm, and a search specialist solve different problems. The next section sorts out which one you need.
Run this on every company above, Kelly WM included. A strong partner clears most of it without stalling.
You learn more from how an agency handles an uncomfortable question than from anything on its website. Listen for specifics, not reassurance.
Two answers should end the call. A guaranteed ranking, because nobody controls the algorithm. And a vague answer on ownership, because vagueness there is rarely accidental. See how long SEO takes for realistic timelines, and the free what should you pay tool for common proposal red flags.
Price sorts serious proposals from unserious ones, but the full breakdown lives on our St. Petersburg SEO cost guide, with more on what drives the ranges in the national SEO cost guide.
The short version from our own published rates: ongoing SEO or Local SEO runs $1,500 to $3,500 a month for most businesses and $3,500 to $7,500 a month for competitive or multi-location work, and a custom website build runs $3,500 to $12,000+ one time. We publish the numbers because a company that will not give you a range before a sales call is telling you something.
Both extremes deserve suspicion. Very cheap monthly SEO usually means volume: mass-produced pages that can leave a site worse off than doing nothing. Very expensive is not automatically better either. Ask what percentage of the retainer turns into pages, code, and links you can point at.
Being on our own list means owing you the unflattering half. Kelly Webmasters and Marketers is a small Orlando studio. Brandon Kelly, the owner, is on every call, so you talk to the person doing the work. Every site is custom code, content is planned as connected silos, and SEO, Local SEO, web design, and AI search run under one roof, plus custom tools when you need something competitors lack. Month to month, no contract.
Where we are the wrong call: if you want somebody who can sit in your conference room downtown on a Tuesday, hire local, and several companies above can do that. If you need broadcast, print, and event work alongside search, that is not us. If you want a guarantee, no honest shop will give you one.
If remote suits you, start with the St. Petersburg marketing agency overview, grade your site with the free website report card, or ask for a free mockup and judge the work directly. We ran the same list for our home market at best SEO companies in Orlando.
There is no single answer, and any page that hands you one is guessing or selling. Fit depends on your industry, your competitors, and your budget. Use the checklist here instead: how they build, how they plan content, how they handle local and AI search, how they report, and what you own when you leave. Run it on everyone listed, us included.
Because we have never seen these companies' clients, contracts, or results, and ranking them would mean inventing scores. Plenty of top ten pages do exactly that, sometimes with paid placement sitting behind the order. Alphabetical is the only ordering we can defend as honest. Nobody paid to appear, no position means anything, and our own entry sits where the alphabet put it.
Local helps when you want face-to-face meetings, on-site photography, or a partner who already knows the neighborhoods. Remote helps when the specific skill set matters more than the zip code, since most of this work happens in shared documents and video calls anyway. We are Orlando-based and work with St. Petersburg businesses remotely. Ask any remote agency how it plans to learn your market.
Enough that real work gets done, and not so much that most of it disappears into overhead. Ranges move with your competition and how many locations you serve, so the detail lives on our St. Petersburg SEO cost page rather than being guessed at here. As a rule, be wary of any monthly price low enough that it could only buy mass-produced content.
No. Nobody controls Google's ranking systems, so a guarantee is either a misunderstanding of how search works or a sales tactic. What an honest agency promises is specific work, on a schedule, reported plainly. Ask what happens if the work gets done and results come slower than hoped, then listen for whether the plan adjusts or your industry gets blamed.
More buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews before clicking anything, so being invisible there costs reach that rankings alone no longer cover. Be clear-eyed about the surface: Google sells ads in and around AI answers, so it is not free of commerce. What no budget decides is which businesses the organic answer itself names.
Ask directly: if we part ways next quarter, who owns the site files, the content, the domain registration, and the analytics accounts? The answer should be you, in writing, with no buyout attached. Some agencies keep sites on proprietary platforms you cannot take anywhere, which quietly turns a monthly fee into something you cannot leave.
