The short answer: Most waterproofing contractors pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month for ongoing SEO or Local SEO. In competitive metros, or for multi location operations running crews out of more than one branch, it runs $3,500 to $7,500 a month. If the website has to be built too, that is a separate one time cost of $3,500 to $12,000 or more. Waterproofing tends to land in the middle to upper part of the standard range, because the searches are urgent, the tickets are large, and the top of the map in a wet basement market is usually defended already.
Waterproofing is not a browse and compare purchase. A homeowner finds water on the basement floor after a heavy rain, gets a little scared, searches on a phone, and books two or three free inspections that week. Your marketing has one job in that moment: be one of the names that gets the inspection. So the number tracks how crowded the top of the map is where you work, not a national average.
Four things move it more than anything else.
The generic version of this argument, the one that holds for any trade, is laid out in our guide to what SEO costs. This page is only about how it shakes out for waterproofing.
For most waterproofing contractors, ongoing SEO or Local SEO runs $1,500 to $3,500 a month. In competitive metros or for multi location operations, it runs $3,500 to $7,500 a month. Those are the same ranges we publish for every trade. What changes is what the hours turn into.
In the $1,500 to $3,500 band, you are paying for:
We run first party lead dashboards on more than 20 of the sites we manage, so the monthly conversation is about calls and booked inspections rather than ranking screenshots.
The $3,500 to $7,500 band is that same work at a larger scale: more pages each month, a profile and its own page set for every branch, and far more competitive digging in a metro where the top three map spots are defended. Every location has to earn its own footprint.
Two things sit outside the monthly. The website is a one time build at $3,500 to $12,000 or more, which has its own answer. And custom tools are quoted separately, from $600 for a calculator, with Tool Care at $75 a month per tool. Everything ongoing is month to month, and you own the site, the content, and the accounts.
Plan on the higher end when:
Plan on the lower end when:
The tradeoff at the lower end is speed, not quality. Fewer pages a month is a longer climb, and in a market where the rain arrives on a schedule, six months later matters.
Waterproofing tickets are large, so most owners want to hold their own average job value up against the retainer before they commit. That math, and the situations where the honest answer is no, sit on is SEO worth it for waterproofing companies.
One warning. If a quote lands far under these ranges, ask what gets published each month and who writes it.
Four things to do before you sign anything with anybody.
We are Orlando based and have worked with local service businesses nationwide since 2008. Call or text (407) 694-2055, or start with a free mockup if you want to see the site first. Either way, start ahead of the season: the pages have to be indexed before the storms send everybody to their phones.
No. The retainer is flat and month to month, in season and out. What changes is the work order: seasonal and emergency pages get built in the quiet stretch so they are already indexed when the storms hit, and the busy months lean toward review requests.
Sometimes, because fewer services means fewer service pages to write. But geography matters more than service count. Cover eight counties with one specialty and you still need real pages for eight counties, and that is what fills the month.
Ads can put calls on the board the week they turn on, and they stop the day you pause them, which is why plenty of contractors run both. Management is usually billed one of two ways in this industry, a flat monthly fee or a percentage of ad spend. We quote a flat fee after a free consult.
